If it looks like it’s going to rain get yourselves some decent umbrellas.

So much time and effort goes into the colour schemes and details of your wedding but people rarely think about umbrellas. If you don’t think about it you’ll end up with photos under a load of random, branded golf umbrellas etc.

So…

  • Think about buying some umbrellas. Each usher should have an umbrella. Why not give them each a really good quality, smart black umbrella with a crook handle so it can be carried whilst keeping hands free if needed? It’s a great gift and it will ensure that everyone looks the part.
  • Think about hiring some umbrellas that match your colour scheme.
  • See if your venue has a load of umbrellas at your disposal.
  • Avoid white umbrellas. They dont look great in photos and it can look a bit cheesy. Sophisticated black or playful rainbow are best.
  • This is really only an issue if you have to move between venues. If you are getting ready, getting married and having the reception in the same venue then the chances are you won’t have to leave the building. Rain? what rain?

I always carry a black or rainbow umbrella for the couples I photograph. By the way, one umbrella is better than two so you have to cosy up and they dont just bang against eachother.

We hope it’s not going to rain but have a plan if it does.
